Nissan Navara GVM Upgrades
If you own a Nissan Navara and regularly carry heavy loads, upgrading your vehicle’s suspension can significantly enhance its strength and towing capacity, making it more reliable for demanding tasks.
Whether you use your Navara for work, off-road trips, or towing, you could unknowingly be exceeding its Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) limit, putting extra strain on its performance and safety.
Every vehicle in Australia has a GVM rating, which defines the maximum weight it can legally and safely carry, including passengers, cargo, and accessories. This limit is set by the manufacturer to ensure the vehicle remains roadworthy and compliant with legal weight restrictions.
Upgrading your Nissan Navara’s GVM allows you to carry more without compromising safety or compliance with Federal Department of Infrastructure and Transport regulations. We offer certified GVM upgrades using Pedders GVM kits, including:
- Nissan Navara D23 (Coil Spring Rear) – Increases GVM to 3070kg, providing extra load-carrying capacity while maintaining stability and performance.
DAPCO Bunbury is licensed as a 2nd stage manufacturer, meaning we can legally increase the GVM of eligible Nissan Navara models, providing a certified solution for those needing extra load capacity.
You should consider a GVM upgrade for your Nissan Navara if you:
- Have equipped additional accessories such as long range fuel tanks, bull bars, winches, side steps, roof racks or recovery gear.
- Load up your vehicle with camping equipment and two or more adult passengers.
- Tow a trailer, camper trailer or caravan with a full car of passengers.
- Storage of essential work equipment, including heavy tools and toolboxes, for your daily activities.
Our Nissan Navara upgrades are:
- Certified by the Department of Infrastructure and Transport.
- All suspension components installed are backed by a 2 Year/40,000kms Nationwide Warranty.
- Installed at our Bunbury workshop by experienced suspension technicians.
A GVM upgrade boosts your Nissan Navara’s strength and towing capacity, allowing you to carry heavier loads safely within legal limits while protecting your vehicle from excessive wear and damage.

GVM FAQs Understanding GVM Upgrades in Western Australia
What is Gross Vehicle Mass?
A Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) upgrade is an independently engineered and tested suspension solution which allows users to increase the payload of their vehicle from what the manufacturer originally designated.
If you are carrying common items such as tools, tool boxes, cargo, bull bars, winches, towbars, extra fuel, passengers, recovery gear and tow ball load such as a boat, caravan or camper trailer you will be adding weight to your vehicle and decreasing the available payload. Every vehicle has an official legally allocated GVM which cannot be exceeded.
Do I need to upgrade my GVM?
Without upgrading your vehicles GVM you may be driving a vehicle that doesn’t meet safety regulations or legal requirements.
- Avoid serious fines associated with driving a vehicle that exceeds it's prescribed GVM, by legally increasing your vehicle payload.
- Avoid insurance issues that may occur if the vehicle is loaded beyond it's approved GVM.
- Improve overall vehicle stability by ensuring the vehicle suspension can deal with the loads you are carrying.
- Ideal choice for towing caravans, horse floats, camper and general trailers who need that extra load carrying capacity
- Great for serious four wheel drives fitted with bull bars, winches, recovery equipment, drawer systems, camping gear and underbody protection looking for compliance to the federal and state GVM laws.
